Happy Holidays!!! Remember our Holiday Party at Myrick Hixon on Sunday, January 10!!!
It looks like we will have lots of white stuff for the Christmas and New Year Holidays. We will no doubt take lots of photos in the next 2 weeks. Some things to remember when taking pictures this season:
When outdoors with white snow all over the place that can fool your camera’s light meter you can use Exposure Compensation to set your aperture to open wider. Try +one stop and check the results. You may want a stop and a half. It is a good habit to change settings as conditions and your subject and background changes. You may want to force a flash when outdoors if your subject is close enough. Many cameras have a Flash Exposure Compensation setting that allows you to change the intensity of your flash up or down. This flexibility may help when your subject is close to the range limit of your flash.
Indoor shots at parties and Christmas morning provide more opportunities. You may want to use a fill flash occasionally when your camera wants to take the picture without flash. For indoor shots with flash you can help avoid blown-out shots by using Flash Exposure Compensation to reduce the intensity of your flash.
