Started on Oct 6, 1937 with 25 members, the La Crosse Area Camera Club (LACC) has been bringing together area photographers for over 70 years. Our members vary in interest and skill level but we all share a love of the hobby. If you live in or near La Crosse, Wisconsin, feel free to attend one of our meetings. For more information about the club, check out the LACC Handbook. To see samples of our members’ work, please visit our Photo Gallery.

Anyone with an interest in photography is welcome to create an account on the website and join us in discussion. LACC members please make sure you log in to get access to the private areas of the site.

President's Corner - June, 2009

The summer is on us with new/different opportunities for photography. An important reminder is to TAKE YOUR CAMERA when you go on your summer outings and picnics. Sunrise is painfully early, BUT, the sweet evening light is now conveniently between supper and bedtime. When your activities and opportunities are mid-day, do your best. Many times very good images are captured when the sun is bright. A couple tips:
1- Try shooting your subject with your camera facing the sun for a silhouette. This requires the sun to be lower in the sky and can be especially dramatic.

President's Corner - April, 2009

The end of the “Camera Club Year” is coming fast. Only 3 meetings before we knock off for the summer. As we prepare for summer we have plenty of activities to consider. The last April meeting will be at La Crosse Floral – bring your camera! The 1st weekend in May is the Fitness Fest which our club will support with volunteer photographers. The last meeting in May (and for the year) will feature Dan Jackson speaking on the Audubon Society and his hobby of birding.

Added watermarking to images

Yesterday Owen contacted me to let me know the club decided they wanted images watermarked at the meeting I missed. I still maintain that 500 pixels is too small for anyone to make use of, even with Genuine Fractals, and that watermarking detracts from the look of our gallery. But I will respect the wishes of people whose photos we are displaying and have added a watermark to all full sized images. I have not added them to the thumbnails at this time but will if the membership requests it.
